Menus
Menus in Wordpress work in a similar way to Drupal, you can create extra menus and add different pieces of content to them. For example - main areas of the site in a main menu, user functions like login\/out edit profile in another and maybe less important links in a footer menu.
Do: Set up your pages in a main menu - create a page to hold your main blog at \/blog
Widgets
Widgets are to Wordpress what Blocks are to Drupal, additional content and features that you can place in areas around your site
