Blocks in Drupal
Blocks are a fundamental part of Drupal, making up small ‘boxes’ of content that can be placed just about anywhere.
Create some blocks
Exercise 1: Add a simple block
- Add a new block (go to Structure -> Blocks -> Add block). We’ll call this block ‘My favourite quote’
- Add some content into your new block, try a movie quote
- Add it to either the Sidebar First or Sidebar Second region
- Restrict to show only on pages
- Now, add another block, this time use the visibility settings to restrict it to only show on Blog Posts. Call this block “About my Blog”. Add a message informing the users of your site that you’re taking part in an Apprenticeship programme, and that you’ll be updating your blog daily.
You can find all your blocks listed at Admin -> Structure -> Blocks click edit next to the block to change its title, content or visibility settings.
